It has been agreed that extreme survivalist and TV personality, Bear Grylls, is to race Hugo Montgomery-Swan, editor of RIB International Magazine, from Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth, at 11am on the 7th May to the RIBEX 2010 show site in Cowes, on the first morning of the three day, Suzuki Marine sponsored show. The special ‘head to head dual’ will be undertaken using two identical 7m Coastline RIBs and is to be staged as a high-profile media event in support of the opening of this specialist powerboat show and its associated Coastline RIBs sponsored music event, RIBFEST 2010.
Bear Grylls’ next major expedition will be a RIB voyage through the icy waters of the North West Passage. The expedition is due to take place in the autumn of 2010 and it is hoped that the vessel will feature as a prime display within the Tented Village zone of the show.
Following an agreement reached on the 13th of January, Coast FM has been appointed as the official radio media partner. Coast FM will be running a series of competitions plus extended feature promotion in support of both RIBEX and its special, Coastline RIBs sponsored waterside music concert, RIBFEST. The public concert is to feature a superb three band line-up including the chart-topping headline act, Seth Lakeman and his band. The radio station’s listenership extends from west Dorset to East Hampshire and represents a prime audience in terms of the regional promotion of RIBEX.
The 2010 show is to feature an enhanced food and entertaining hall. Sponsored by Suzuki Marine, this central feature marquee will offer a brand new food menu, drinks bar and table layout. In addition to the Suzuki Food Hall, fast food outlets along with lamb and hog roast serving points will be located throughout the show’s Tented Village.
Red Funnel Ferries have also confirmed their full support of RIBEX and RIBFEST and to this end will be heavily involved in the promotion of the show. Through their generous support, Red Funnel will be providing/sponsoring, radio advertising, poster and flier coverage, promo-film airtime, plus valuable on-line marketing and e-ticket initiatives. In addition to this support of RIBEX and RIBFEST, the ferry company will also be extending major travel discounts to show visitors and exhibitors alike as well as providing additional ferry services over the period of the three day show.
Whilst, as show organisers we are promoting the show via the marine press both here and overseas, the Southampton based PR company, Carswell Gould, has been appointed to undertake a highly comprehensive program of work to promote RIBEX and RIBFEST. Carswell Gould are a refreshingly creative and energetic operation who are well connected not only as regards the media but also throughout the business community and local authorities. Since December 2009 they have been working extensively with all the key media entities within the region in an effort to ensure all possible means are brought to bear in the promotion of the show to the wider public.
N.B. RIB Exhibitions is now taking bookings for the Suzuki sponsored 2010 show, staged over the 7th,8th,9th of May, and a number of key areas, not only in the Tented Village but particularly within the Event Marina itself, have already been allocated. If you are seeking prime space or have particular requirements we urge you not to delay in submitting your application to exhibit. We anticipate the show once again selling out and thus to avoid disappointment we encourage all our exhibitors to act quickly in filing their Application to Exhibit.

In addition to their main exhibit, this affords an exhibitor the facility to display a genuine, ‘ready to go’ entry level RIB, free of charge, within the Tented Village.
